A recent mob-beating of a Buffalo, NY teen has caused a great deal of outrage within the community, and while the crime has been covered locally, the national mainstream press has completely ignored the story. The victim is white and the assailants were black.
On August 18, Brian Milligan Jr., 18, was walking home when he was reportedly attacked at the corner of Genesee Street and Floss Avenue, by between 10 to 15 black men. In addition to being punched and kicked, Milligan’s attackers hit him in the back of the head with a brick.
Amazingly, despite his severe injuries, Milligan managed to stumble the remaining five blocks to his house where he collapsed.
His father, Brian Milligan Sr. told a WGRZ reporter: "I mean, I couldn't believe that a human can lose so much blood and walk home for five blocks. It didn't even look like my son.”
Milligan who spent several days in the Erie County Medical Center, suffered bleeding in his brain and a broken jaw, which will require the reinforcement of a metal plate and reconstructive surgery, the extent of his brain injuries is not yet fully known..
Milligan’s girlfriend Nicola Fisher, who is black, has told police that the two were often threatened and taunted as they walked together through their neighborhood.
Milligan‘s father believes his son‘s relationship with Fisher was the motivation behind the attack. He said: "They're just in love. They just want to be left alone,"
Police are investigating the attack as a hate crime, and Buffalo Police spokesperson Mike DeGeorge told reporters: "The department is vigorously investigating this tragic incident like it does with all crimes in the city. We understand the family's grief and the department is asking anyone with information about this incident to call the confidential tip call [716] 847-2255.”
Despite that assurance from the Buffalo Police, Milligan’s father has expressed his frustration with the current investigation, and recently said: "I don't want to sound wrong, but, what happens if this was a black boy laying up on that bed, and it was twelve white guys that did this to him.”
At this time, no arrests have been made in this case
I know Buffalo very well. The press hasn't ignored this case. It was in the Buffalo newspaper. My mom is living in Buffmike fisher and surgeryalo (Linwood Park) and she saved the article. What makes me SICK is the fact that the people on the east side have not rioted over this.
You and I know for a fact that the people on the east side would be up in arms if it was a black kid. Sure, lovejoy and kaisertown people are very racist to blacks, but the blacks in fillmore district, e. ferry district, etc. don't give a darn about white people (reverse racism).
I'm not afraid. I'm in the BX and coming back to Buffalo. I wrote a letter to the mayor about how disgusted I am. Not at the media, but at the blacks in Buffalo not speaking out.
Next time a black kid gets beat up by whites I wonder what will happen.
Vanity: if you're from Buffalo you'd understand it better. A lot of Blacks on the east side cry injustice, yet act incredibly racist. Unlike Black people in Amherst or the West side these were the ones living off the welfare.
Alluring: stop giving excuses to the people who committ hate crimes against whites.

this is my concern. a lot of black americans when they hear of a hate crime against whites give a phrase like, "well black people are victims too!" as if we didn't know that or "why should I care?" this is sad, but true. Then these same ppl complain that a lot of whites don't care when they are
attacked which is also true. But 2 wrongs don't make a right. When someone is attacked, white, black, asian, etc. my nigerian, south african, etc. (black non american) friends always say "how awful" not...why should I care? Americans, black and white, need to stop with excuses and hate.
you see a terrible thing hpnd to my cousin, and she nearly died. Black ppl I encountered said, "why should I care that happened to many of my people?!" (always Black Americans, except a few Black Americans were very consoling) when they found out my cousin is indigenous Mexican, THEN they cared.
Since you're copmike fisher and surgeryying a press article to provide the substance for your question, you can hardly say the press has ignored the crime.
lol your so right the only time i hear about white teens in the press is when they shoot up a school. i watch talk shows all the time and always find troubled white teens who are taking drugs ,prostutes, etc. and yet i see nothing on the news about this. they are to bussy talking about the black kids who did this " BLACK KID THROWS HIS SHOE IN THE STREET" or " BLACK GIRL PULLS OUT A STICK OF GUM " lol of course i'm exagerating but it's just like okay i know theres some bad white teens in usa howcome they don't put that crap on the news if they do its always died down it goes away quick its jus a shame
If a white man committed a hate crime against a black man it would be all over the news! There are hundreds of honor killings by Muslims of their own daughters in the USA every year that are not reported on the news.
First let me say that it is wrong no matter what color you are and the sad thing is, it is not being reported because of the interracial relationship. They obviously don't care for the "white" man dating the "black" woman and unfortunately it is like this all over the place. Some people who are racists themselves and authority figures assume that you caused it to happen on your own because of this relationship, and that if you stayed with your own kind you wouldn't have had to go through that beating...it's a sad truth and no matter if the victim is white or black, an unbiased investigation should follow suite. Your thoughts are justifiable, but don't let it cloud your judgment about all people.
Today we are going through trials and tribulations of a new "mixed breed" president and the chaos this has caused could turn into an all out race war. Most allegations or accusations are ridiculous as are those with any interracial relationship. It's sad to find out how "fake" our country is and how we haven't changed for the better at all. All I can say is "god bless them, everyone" because their day is coming.
